fusible links are in that big ugly harness that runs between the passenger-side battery and the vertical inboard wall of the fender - if you look at the wires you'll see how many of them go fat at one point for like an inch length and then go back down to thin, that fat part is your fusible link - several of those live there, check each of them for burned spots... You'll need to pull the battery out to see the stuff, possibly remove some plastic loom if there is any there.
Mine arced and burned a hole in the inside of the hood but not all the way through. I also have very few grounds going to the body so i welded the Fuel line to the oil filter. which is another story with pictures.
also it is possible that there is an issue with the alternator. With a dead short all kinds of weird problems can occur. like was said before check the fuse link and the wire to the relays. I always thought that ford used too small wire to connect the charging system to the batteries and the rest of the truck.
Also check the gray connector with 2 big wires that feed the Glow plugs that is a main connection to the truck but is known to melt (due to the glow plugs high amperage)
Ill look later tonight, since I'm at work but I don't remember seeing an in line fuse. Can I get a pic so I know better what I'm looking for.thanks for all the help
okay, so i looked n i found one lil thing thats smalln black that says "fusible link 14ga" but its all rubber? is that what your talking about? i cant find anything els. is there another fuse boxs in the engine bay?
