My 58 F100 project

Ya I think its cool to maintain some of that OEM stuff when possible-the patina/glass is always a plus. I didn't always think that way, but I guess its a trend and I'm influenced too. I know I'm keeping as much OEM stuff on my current project 48F1 as i possibly can, but also making some mechanical upgrades but nothing radical.
I especially like your Mig? welding where I can see the 4bar brackets etc. Looks like some experienced "bead work". My welding is a little sketchy, but I just keep at it and eventualy get there-or close to there. Did you do the welding? Whoever did/looks experienced from what I can see.

You asked about the FOMOCO markings on OEM winshields etc, and I don't know if they came that way or not--Someone here probably knows. But I did look at my 48F1 and the windshield says nothing/its probably been replaced. But the wing windows and side glass both say "Ford Safety Glass" which is encircled in an oval. I'm sure the Fomoco glass was the newer/later generation. I don't have any OEM glass in my 58.

Thanks all the brackets and front cross member were welded from the company I bought the kit from (No Limit Engineering) the we had to put all in where it needed to be and box the rails.
A friend of mine did all the welding to the frame and rearend after I did all the set up
Thanks again
Jeff

Looks cool. I got a good look at how you put that bar under the hood hinges etc, and used your cherry picker. I'll have to remember that. I was a lot younger and stronger the last time I wrestled a cab off a frame and it wasn't near as big a cab as the 58. I dont' plan on anything like
that-anymore--but one never knows. I just try to keep my existing stable of trucks running.

Thanks the engine stand idea is one I found online I got mine off craigslist $20 each
the only suggestion I have is get the ones with the rotating part is parrallel to the ground to rotate easier I had to shim mine up at the back of the stands it worked but the other style would have been better

I too meant to comment on that home made rotissory idea. That' a plenty good setup for the occassional builder. If i do another project?-- to that level, I'll get another engine stand and try that myself. Very cool. Never thought of it.
