So i'm looking into purchasing a DashDAQ monitoring system, but I have a few questions. How do you set it up to read EGT's? From what I have read you have to have a Phidgets USB Temp Sensor like this: Phidgets USB Temperature Sensor - Thermocouple input - RobotShop Where do you mount this? Also I'm guessing that you plug the thermocouple in the exhaust manifold into this, and then run a USB cable to the DashDAQ? Please correct me if I am wrong. And when you purchase the DashDAQ do I have to purchase the ford license for it to work? Also is it able to measure turbo boost alone or do you have to run a separate wire as for that as well? Sorry for all of the questions. I have looked at the Insight and other systems, but I really want the built in GPS. The DashDAQ is $695, and then with the thermocouple and Temp. Sensor that almost another $150!
I just ordered the Dashdaq XL today, I believe that you do not have to run the separate cable for he EGT's. I read an earlier post on EGT's and they said you set it up for the EGRT. That comes with the basic pkg as well. i can let you know more in a couple of days. I recvd the UPS tracking # so its on its way.
Well I recvd my DashDaq XL today, happy so far. Unfortunately the 6.0L does not have a sensor that can be read thru the OBD for EGRTA. Now thats a bummer. There is a way to get around it but you have to spend more money and drill and tap the manifold. Same way as installing an analog gauge. I was told this info from Drew tech. It does measure boost though.
