DashDaq question.....

in a moment of what passes for me, of sanity, i'm
gonna jerk out the banks IO and economind from the van.
the piece of p00p is now having communication errors between
the IQ and the brick.

this means i need tunes, and gauges.

now, i was looking at phalanx from spartan, as it runs on a
dashdaq.... and they no longer support the 6.0, and i'm
guessing there is an excellent chance they never will.

is there anyone else who writes tunes to run on a dashdaq?
i could just use the dashdaq for guages, but then it's ANOTHER
$400+ for a SCT reader and some of matts tunes........ and that's
where i'm at at this point.....

... tweaking a diesel, $1k at a time.....

thanks for your insight.

lol.... now I wish I would have got the DD instead of the Insight. I have an ABS problem that it would have come in handy for.

If it was me Id Get the AE With Ford enhanced It can do Cylinder Balance test and Control other things for testing It seams to do more than DD for cheaper

AE will do ABS too
You should be able to find a parts store with a Code Reader that will scan for ABS Codes on the 6.0L Fairly Common on a 1996 or newer with OBDII

Now If I was Rich Id Have Both AE and DD

Id Have the DD and AE for shure

The Truck would be apart Right now For New Heads And H1-11 Studs OEM Gaskets Biggest inject Pwer max Turbo and Fuel System a Tunner and Trans rebuild On the Horizon with a Little Higher Stall TC and any other Top of the Line Racing Parts LOL

But I would do as much of the work I could But would probably buy a Trans already Built

well, AE lets you check things that you can't check with
a gauge set....

but being able to see stuff and have alarms without
having a booted laptop is necessary, and the dashdaq
will allow external inputs as well as enhanced ford CAN
buss.

so, i'm not rich, but i'll probably end up with both...
this is my work truck, and anything for it is a business
expense... and the truth is, having this thing sitting
there broken means i don't get to go and make money....

but i still don't know if anyone writes stuff to run on the
daq, other than spartan, who doesn't.... that's the part i
don't get... if the guy has the code written already, and
he does, why not sell it? the fellow i spoke with was
talking about licenses, and the inconvenience of
programming for the 6.0 as opposed to the newer engine....
my suspicions is that the newer engine is a lot more profitable
to work with, in terms of hours to dollars.... life is like that.

i don't want to buy the daq until i see if there is someone
who can code for it......

well, the dashdaq can also be used as a loader for tunes.

from the spartan website......

"Based off of the DashDAQ electronic monitor from Drew Technologies
(Drew Technologies, Inc.), with the power and flexibility of true Spartan
custom tuning abilities, the Phalanx Flash Console is hands-down the
most capable, powerful, and economic electronic tuning devices in the
diesel performance world."

"Tested on the street, strip and pulls, the Phalanx Flash Console
leaves no vehicle configurations or user needs unanswered.
With proper support for all 2008 & 2009 6.4L, latest Ford "reflashes",
Automatic AND Manual transmissions, along with infrastructure already
in place for the upcoming 2011MY 6.7L "Scorpion" engines, we leave
nothing on the table for the competition."

they no longer work with 6.0's.... i'm wondering if there is someone
who does..... spartan has a forum for the 6.0... been dead for a
year except for one thread made up of disgusted folk who it seems
have been left out to dry without any support, and based on the
feedback i've seen there, i'd not spend any money on any product
they produce, they don't seem to stand behind it.

it's pretty fugly.....

Their phalanx flash console is the dashdaq. Spartan writes the tunes for it. I have one, run the 40hp tow tune with engine brake and egr delete.

yup. they are.

that's how i came to call them, and ask about getting a phalanx
tuner for the 6.0, to find out they don't sell them any more.

then i checked their forum, and found that according to the
people posting, they don't support them any more, either.

now, it seems NOBODY writes a front end to use the DashDaq
as a device to load tunes for a 6.0. that info came from DashDaq
themselves, and that's a shame, but it is what it is. the daq could
reflash both pcm and ficm, if someone coded it to do that. nobody will.

DashDaq did tell me about a company called Zeitronix, in torrance,
a half hour from me... they make a bunch of stuff that works with
the DashDaq to monitor everything from when the microbrew is
finished, to where anarchy will strike next in the free world.

so i have a dashdaq and a zt-2 wideband data logger and a
shiny new thermocouple on will call for in the morning.
that'll monitor anything i can think of, and i can then just
get a SCT device to do matt's tunes with.

and remove that banks IQ and economind. the IQ doesn't
talk to the economind any more, and it's kind of like having
a HAL 9000 running the ship....

"I'm afraid i can't do that, dave......"

and i need to scrape that banks sticker off the back of the
van.... what a waste of money.
