Need help with glow plug relay...its hot!

I have a 95 F250 7.3 powerstroke diesel. Ive had it since it was new. Last month I changed my fuel pump, and now when ya start it, the glow plug relay gets real hot, on the lug going straight to the battery. One of the members here told me to disconnect one of the little wires and see if it got hot then. It stayed cool, anyone know what else I can check on? I checked all my wires, and didnt see any pinched or cut ones, and they are all back where they came from. What happens if the little wire is removed once the truck is started? In the event I have to move it or something......kindda hard to push one of these things as heavy as they are.

That glow plug relay just looks like another starter relay, like Fords had on the fender for years, right?

2 big studs -- one has 12 volts on it from battery, other one on the other side goes to the glow plug harness.
2 small studs -- those are the coil terminals for the relay.

I would disconnect the negative battery cable, then remove and clean up the end of the positive cable to the glow plug relay, in case of a poor connection there at the glow plug relay. Then put it all back together.

I think the idea of disconnecting one or both of the little wires was to for-sure turn off the glow plugs, in case they were were staying on all the time while the engine was running. I assume the PCM has a timer that should turn off the glow plug relay's coil current after x amount of time after starting, or something like that.

You could re-attach the little wires (to have glow plugs again), then start it, then get out and disconnect them again.
If for some reason the PCM or whatever else controls the glow plug relay tries to keep it ON when it should have turned OFF, disconnecting those wires will turn the glow plugs OFF.
