4.9L distributor
Last time i checked my distributor and did the ignition timing...(it's the electric setup in which all you can do is set it @ 10BTDC and drop it in)
--the shaft was covered in oil and had a lot of play to it. By alot of play, i mean that it moved like click click...not good.
I cleaned it up and put it back in and am still running it. I was having a problem at startup...if the truck rested for more than an hour and a half it would take around 2-5 cranks to start up.
After i cleaned it, for about a week or a few days anyways, it would fire right up.
It is now back to startup lag. It was having throttle bucking and loss of power issues irradically...sometimes it will run great and the power is all there...then there is those other times. I started running 92 octane fuel and cleaned up the injectors and throttle body...no more bucking. The lack of power though is there only noticibly when the engine fires properly -- in which I case i say to myself "Damn! This is what it's supposed to drive like!"
--Before I drop $100 on the new distributor, I wanted to know if this is the likely cause.
ALSO, anybody running an MSD or other aftermarket distributor with stock ignition coil that is running real solid??
much thanks
