I think your confused. The only Banks kit I've seen with the probe in the downpipe was the non-turbo Banks Power Pack kit. I had both. The Sidewinder kit's probe is in the up pipe cast-manifold that also is the turbo mount. As mentioned this puts the probe before the turbo.

It's also my understanding the probe and gauge is calibrated to compensate the distance from the exhaust ports to give an accurate reading.

Either way if I'm pulling grade loaded and want to maintain the speed of traffic, the egt's about 1100* on the gauge out of o/d at 2500rpm.
