could it be my booster?

I've replaced the calipers, pads, rotors, and master cylinder so far. My Brakes STILL smoke on a regular basis! It doesn't seem like the pedal is returning to the "fully open" position when I step off. Is there any way to check that? The only other thing I can think of is lines.

I had something similar happen in a 92 f250 4X4. When I touched the brake pedal it would suck itself to floor and had to be pulled off of the floorboard by hand. A new booster made it go away. Not saying that it is your problem, just telling you my expirience.

WE need more info about your truck. If it is a mid seventies F150, look behind the brake booster at the bellcrank linkage. This linkage usually get's rusted up due to moisture and needs lubed. Pull the brake booster and lube the linkage behind it with PB blaster or something like it. I have Fixed several F150's with this exact problem you have described. When you have the booster removed, shake it and see if it is full of brake fluid\water. If so, replace the booster.

To answer your question, yes there are several way's to check your brake pedal\brake rod to master cylinder spec's.

You mean that a brake pedal had to pulled up by hand after brake application while driving? With a dual mastercylinder and just a defective booster? A booster is just that, if it caused your problem, I'm confused and Ford should be informed.

Mine is a '76 f-100. 360 w/C6 4x4. Disk Fronts and drum rears.

Todd jo, it's not that the pedal sucks itself to the floor, it just doesn't want to come back up again after it's been pressed.

Ya,. the pedal had to be pulled from the floor by hand while driving. The brakes were never the same again. I traded off the truck and ran into the new owner once. She asked if I had ever had problems with the brakes. She got a fire call and we never finished the conversation. Is there a spring that is supposed to aid the pedal back to its normal position of "rest" Is it broken or missing?
