I have a '95 F150 2WD with 3 inch body lift and 1 1/2 inch leveling coils in the front. My question is I just put 33's on it and it looks great! But I want just a tad more clearance. Now I read something about the 2 inch coil spacers and was wondering if this is what I should get? Also how would I level out the back? I was considering a 4 inch susp lift but dont really want to spend the money for it and it wouldnt fit in my garage. So is this the way to go? Also any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
1 1/2" up front is about as far as you can go without doing a full-blown suspension lift, which comes with brackets to drop down all of your TTB components. The angle of the arms will be way out of wack causing horrible camber.
I'm selling my lift kit after i do the solid axle swap, if you can wait till the first two weeks of summer i'll be glad to sell it to you for pretty cheap. If not, it's going up on ebay.
i have a 94 f150 2wd. im running a 3 inch body, leveling coils, and 2 inch spacers. i had just the camber bushings and i did fine with the coils and spacers, however went ahead and got the drop down brackets which improved the ride greatly. if i were you, i would just look for a pair of used drop down brackets to compensate for the spacers
Don't forget, for that kind of lift you will need the axle pivot brackets they mentioned AND radius arm brackets. You can either get longer radius arms (best) or the radius arm drop brackets. This all comes in a 4" suspension kit. Also, you might need new brake lines. To level out the back, you can put bigger lift blocks or the best way would be new springs but thats expensive. You could also add a leaf but it'll really stiffen the ride. You get what you pay for believe me.
Curty, do you not understand? You will need to get the drop axle pixot and radius arm brackets and adjustable camber bushing if you want to get more lift. Sure you can get that kit to get the lift you want but it would be a waste without the brackets, and your ride is going to suck unless you have everything dropped down, it just will not ride properly and will ride very harsh. I had mine like that for about two weeks, after that I bought a real lift kit and sold the leveling coils and spacers. No, the drop brackets do not give you more lift, they just make the axle and radius arm angles very close to stock.
You shouldn't cut corners when dealing with your suspension. I suggest you do it the right way and you will be happy with the result. Driving around on a hacked up suspension will get you unhappy REAL quick, and make you regret your previous spending habbits. You'll end up deciding to go ahead and buy a real lift to restore your ride quality, which will put you more in the hole then if you just bought the lift from the start.
Well all I want is about 2 more inches of lift. And it seems like the 2 inch spacers will give me what I need. If I can find some drop down brackets to fix the angles of the arms, would this combo work? Keep in mind I just want 2 more inches thats it. And suspension lifts would be too much height as well as too much money. I have the new leveling coils in the front and the 3 inch body lift and my truck looks pretty mean right now. But 2 more inches would surely make my truck look better with the 33 inch meats that I got on there.
i have that setup. you will be a little higher in the front than the back. if you a teenager like me and really dont care about the PERFECT ride go for it. my tires are wearing great, pulls a bit to the right but not bad
I know I will be a little higher in front obviously until I lift the back end. Hey rbrendel....did you have to get anything else beside just the spacers or did you put drop down brackets on them?
OK so you already have a 2" leveling coil in there, then get a 4" suspension lift kit, that means you only lift the truck 2 more inches vs what you have, that sounds like what you want. It'll give you all the proper parts, and cost about 550-600ish. That seems pretty selve explanitory to me...but it's your truck I'm just trying to help you not go and buy the spacers and have a huge headache trying to get ALL of the suspension aligned right (caster/camber/radius arms/axle pivot brackets). You're truck is going to ride like crap if you do not get the radius arm drop brackets, it'll have very poor suspension travel and put added stress on the brackets up front. This is a vehicle, in my book you either do it right or don't do it at all. Thats my opinion.
Well im not getting the whole 4 inch suspension kit. I just got some coil springs from a 4 inch lift kit. I got them for a very cheap price. But I know that doing the whole 2 inch spacer thing would be a waste of money so I am going to get the whole kit. But I will have to buy it piece by piece. So what else will I need to get? I will use blocks for the rear. But what else is needed for the front?
Umm, you need all the parts that come with the 4" suspenion kit. Radius arm brackets, axle pivot brackets, new shocks, and you can opt to get the right rear lift components to make it sit level or buy your own. Think of it, if you buy things seperately, you pay more for each individual piece. Buying the whole kit comes with the parts you need, so buy it! If you buy them individually, it'll cost more than if you buy them in one kit. Thats why they put the kit together. I put a 4" suspension kit on my 95 F-150 2wd and spent a long time researching it and picking out what would work right. I didn't have FTE at the time, I've been doing this for awhile, I know what ya need for parts to make this suspension work the way it was originally intended. If you cut corners, your sacraficing something else, that something else is pretty important and will cost you money elsewhere. You can only lift this I-beam suspension 2" without the need of axle pivot brackets. When you go higher than 2", and don't have the axle pivot brackets, the alignment will not be able to be corrected to a tee, and there will be more stress on the ball joints. It is not the correct way to lift it. If you go higher than 2" you will also need the radius arm brackets, otherwise it will not let the suspension cycle without binding. Those two sets of brackets are needed, they are what is in the suspension kit. Call up NTWonline.com and see if you can buy the other components since you have the springs already. But you should not mix companies. I hope you got a good spring from a company like skyjacker or atleast superlift.
