Afternoon, when I start my truck up in the morning it idles at 1200-1450 rpm's til it gets warm. After I drive the truck 20-25 miles it idle at 1055 rpm when I put a hand held tach on it.
My question is how do you turn the idle down? I turn the little bolt and it doesn't hit the tab but it still idle fast. Any help would sure be great. thanks C.T.
You should never adjust that screw - that's why it had red threadlocker on it. The idle is ONLY controlled by the computer thru the Idle Air Control valve, which is mounted to the top of the throttle body. If you search, you'll find a million threads about it (IAC). You can clean it and get some more life out of it, but it will need to be changed soon. They're easy to find at parts stores and cost $25-90.
Steve, thanks alot! I'll turn that screw back to where I found it.I'll get a IAC value.
You sure know alot about Ford trucks everything you've said to do has worked out right.
Thanks for some great info
