stock fuel pump vs. BIGGER fuel pump?

I just installed a regulated fuel return with a fuel bowl delete including a water separator and filter. I adjusted my regulator to 65. When standing on the throttle it never drops below 60. A friend of mine put a FASS on his duramax ( which is a completely different motor) and said his throttle response is amazing!!. My question is: even though my oem pump works fine, would putting a bigger fuel pump on increase throttle response?

yes it will but its more then just swapping pumps...you need bigger feed lines as well as a return line to get any of the benefits as well as keeping the pumps warranty per pump instructions...ill be running a sump as well as a fuel lab...

already put a sump in tank and upgraded all the lines. Only thing is when I put new hoses on, the only size I could find nearby was 1/2" but everything is ready to go.

you really should at least have 5/8 line from the tank to the pump...i know fuel lab states that...not sure about the fass....these pumps move a lot of fuel and you dont want to over heat them or they wont last long...
im going 5/8 from tank all the way to the 2 micron filter just befor the heads then 3/8 the rest of the way..the stock feed line is big enough to use as a return..but im going to do mine in 3/8 just to be safe...read your buddies instructions that came with his fass pump...just a side note though...im going with a fuel lab because i have read too many problems with the fass,,,,its your call...

Will I really see a significant throttle response for spending all the $$. On a side note...I really don't want to rerun all that line just for 1/8" differnce. Is it just that the pump won't last as long or you REALLY need it for the flow?

any time you keep the fuel PSI from dropping your gaining power..how much depends on the mods you have...a stock pump will feed fuel to make 450 HP so with your 160 singles the gains may not be all that much...but will be noticable..

No, IMO it isn't nearly enough to justify if you already have a healthy stock pump.

true to some but an injector that is kept full of fuel with out dropping PSI is a very happy injector and could give it a longer life....keeping the PSI from droping will add to the mid to top end of the RPM's more then help in the lower end...IMO if you want an all out race power or heavy load pulling power... then this mod would be a plus...

To the OP.. If your FP isn't dropping then upgrading your pump won't do much to help.
