Thanks for that chart. I am going to save that one.
I'm still undecided about T5 or AOD. I am leaning more towards the auto, just for the ease of getting it all set up. Can I buy a pre modifed crossmember, or will I have to fab something on me own?
There is a guy in town that has a 76 351W from a ford van. It is bolted to a C6, but he also has a AOD. He says it's not stuck, so I'm thinking this may be a good engine to start with. Opinions?
It depends on price and condition. If it's a core motor and trans, it's not worth nearly as much as a proven good running set up would be. If all he knows about it is it's "not stuck", that sounds like something that needs rebuilt. But as far as the package goes, that would be a good one to do.
You can buy crossmembers, but many folks find it's just as easy to build one to fit, rather than have to modify something store-bought. And you are correct in that setting up the automatic will be far easier than installing a T-5.
