I just finished installing a performance built Triton V-10 into my 1999 F250 LD and I thought you all might like to see. I've been having lots of fun driving it around and its getting about 18 mpg!
Thanks for all of your replies! The drier tubing is VERY VERY temoprary, I just have it there while I think of a way to fabricate a better intake tube setup. As far as the whole swap went, I spent close to a year doing prep work finding all of the parts and building the engine. Then I completed the swap in about eight days. The mechanical side of it went fairly smoothly, however the wiring has been a headache. Lots of "snipping and splicing"
18 MPG? I'm calling BS on that one. You have a manual or auto? Where is it shifting at?
Since the engine is new, I'm being gentle with it during the break in period and that may be contributing to my gas mileage. I have a 4R100 auto and around town I think its shifting almost exclusively below 2000 rpm. My tachometer isn't calibrated for the new engine yet so for now its reading way too high.
