1973 Ford F250, 360 5.9l engine. I cannot get the pivot bolt out so I can replace my altenator. the altenator spins with the pivot bolt. Any suggestions, or directions to previos threads would be helpful.
Try soaking the threads with a penetrating oil for an hour and use an impact wrench or breaker bar on it.even if it twists off I think it can still be used as a core deposit.
You can try soaking it with PB balster or some other penetrating oil but as wide as the casting is I don't know if that would work. If you have access to a torch you can try heating it to break the bond.
Or you can get a six point socket and a long breaker bar and try forcing the bolt to break loose.
PB BLASTER!!! soak it for an hour if that dont work heat it up gently with a torch. If you are replacing it anyways do as tees77150 said 'BFH' lol that always works just becarefull of the bracket and the rest of your surroundings. Good Luck!!
