Thanks to all who took the time, I now have a list of to-do's and to watch 'fers. There is so much I've learned here already that I should become a supporting member. The first day I had the truck in my posession after the dealer supposedly "fixed everything", which wasn't much, I was able to get the A/C running normally in 15 min. in the driveway. Called the dealer and told himto get his money back from where ever he took it, because with your guys' help I fixed it myself. And yes I did Mention FTE by name, to which he answeared, "I'll have look them up". I can't remember who posted it, but the "dirt cheap fix" for air gap between the A/C compressor and clutch plate, kudos to you! Worked perfectly! I'm sure I'll be coming to guys soon for advice and recommendations. Thanks again.
.......Hopping to get at least another 100K on the motor. Any input you fellas might have for me would be greatly appreciated.
As far as I'm concerned, you need to set your sights a little higher. Seven threes run for hundreds of thousands of miles with little more than basic maintenance in some of the most brutal environments imaginable for an engine. Around here, some of us consider 194k to be low miles.
If you want to build a race truck, you probably made a mistake. If you're looking for an engine that will haul the freight with the reliability of an anvil, you came to the right place.
Welcome aboard. Here you'll find no shortage of ideas for spending your money!
This may be cause to start new thread, but I'm new here, so bear with me. I just got out from under my new "baby", and I'm corn-fused. I was looking for the fuel filter on the frame rail as it was located there on my '07, but nothing there. Only thing I saw on frame rail looked like external pump, or something. Bear in mind this is my first 7.3 so I have no frame of reference. I'd like to do an oil and fuel filter change this weekend or next, since previous service history is not available. One thing is fer sure, I'll either have to go on a diet and stop drinking beers, or put 'er up on jack stands to work on her comfortably. Oh ya, I found a wiring harness which appear to have been dead ended, any thoughts?
I'm trying to get pics posted, but no sucess. So I've got my computer savy buddy on the way. This appearently dead-ended harness is making me curious. Is this a mod I don't know about? Do you guys know about it? Is it something to worry about? Whats really got me is where is the fuel filter, again, 2001 F350 CC DRW LWB, completely stock from my inspection, as un-informed as it might be.
Again welcome to FTE. You will find this site filled with knowledge and great guys. I don't know about anyone else, but anytime I buy a vehicle one of the first purchases after that vehicle is in my garage is a repair book. Either Chilton or Haynes. These books have their limitations and yet their great advantages. Between the books and the knowledge here I believe a person could fix just about anything that could go wrong. I also have the books because what happens when I have trouble but no internet? These books will answer some of the basic questions like torgue specs or "where is the fuel filter." A good, fairly cheap investment! Just my two cents, but man the cents the books over the years have saved me....

If you are seeing the four or five wires dead ended on the drivers side fire wall, those are spares with the other ends dead ended under the dash.
The fuel filters on the frame are on the 6.0 and 6.4's. Nothing there on our trucks, thank God, no more diesel in you face.
Brandon,
Looking through this post I see no one has said anything about your CPS(cam position sensor) take a look at it and see what color it is, if it is gray than you have the one Ford put in for the recall, If it is Black you may still have the OEM one. I would cheak with the PO and see if they had the recall done. Iwould also get a new one and put it in the glove box along with a 10mm wrench just in case it goes out on the road.

If you could point to the exact location of the CPS I'll check. It seems like everything is different from the "07, my 1st PSD, of which I did little to. This truck is obviosly new to me, so any and all support is greatly appreciated.
