I recently bought a 2002 F150 Supercrew 5.4L with 128000 miles on it. When I first start it up in the morning it seem to run a little rough. It shakes a little but I dont hear or feel a miss when it drive it. It's just not running as smooth as I think it should be when I first start it up in the mornings. Any ideas?
It's MAF (Mass Airflow ). Located inside of your air intake duct. It uses a
hot wire sensing element to measure the amount of air entering the engine. The air passing over the hot wire causes it to cool. Consequently,
this change in temperature can be converted into an analog voltage meausred by the pcm which in turn calculates the required fuel injector pulse width. When it's dirty or bad it can cause a rough idle. Also, a vacuum problem, dirty throttle body butterfly, bad or dirty IAC valve, dirty
fuel injectors or fuel filter, plugs , cop's and so on can cause a rough idle.
