I have a 96 f150 with the 300.Yesterday I was out playing in the snow and the truck ran fine.I parked it overnight and went to start it this morning. The engine just cranked and cranked with no fire.I can smell fuel so I'm assumng it is getting fuel.I pulled off the coil wire and replugged it back on. A couple of month's ago I had this same problem and it was that the coil wire burned through.Does anyone have some ideas or suggestions on what to try next? Thanks
Check you distributer cap. It may have some cracks (even hair line) that are allowing moisture to get inside. New ones are not all that much $$, and it helps if it has been a while since you changed it. Put a little dielectric grease on the terminals too.
If you do not have any spark I would lean towards that TFI module. I think the 96 still used them. They do not usually give any previous symptoms, they just go and that is it. EL FINITO!
