I don't think you'll be dissappointed . What compression will yours be and what heads did you go with?
There were several at the IL state fair in springfield at the pulls running an aftermarket 460 based block with an extra tall deck and 640 cubes. There was one of those engines in a 1940 Ford as well. This was just a few weeks ago.
10.5 compression and he talked me into a set of Procomp heads that he ported. I was leary of going that way but he promissed me Id be happy.
Mine came out that way also 10.5:1 I have been told that I can't run 92 Octane with that compression and I haven't tried it so I went with running E85. I don't mind the ethanol, but it can be tricky to tune and trying to start it during the winter up here is almost impossible. What are your plans? Will you try running pump gas?
Carl told me I would need to run premium and with the aluminum heads I can get away with more compression.
I have a basically stock 460 in my truck now (other than mild cam straight up timing set, performer intate and 750 Demon) and Ive not been impressed at all. It runs really well but it just dont seem all that much more powerful than the 400 it had.
Are you happy with your 521? I want it to feel fast.
