I plan on doing a coolant service on the 6.0 and was wondering if there was an alternative to using the pricey VC-9 from ford for the flush. At a cost of over $50 for two bottles I would thing International or someone else would have it cheaper. If International has a similar product what would be the part number for it.....
I would make sure that the Restore is an actual iron cleaner as is the VC-9. That is to prevent cavitation at the cylinder liners when you put in new coolant. Very important. 50 bucks may seem expensive but could very well be a bargain in the long run. It's your truck and money, do what you are comfortable with.
Restore has to different cleaners. After I do my flush with VC-9 I am going to do another flush with Restore do disperse all the Silicate Gel. I might be throwing money away. Can't hurt!!! O-Well

I wonder if there would be any benefit to doing the Restore first to get the gel and then the VC-9. Just a thought. I do have to say that you are not taking short cuts which I do like. I have been called **** when it comes to maint. and I may spend double over some but my truck has never let me down.
Hey 69cj. I guess I'm a little **** also when it come to my truck..My 03 only has 47000 miles on it. I change the oil every 3 months, sometimes put on only 1000 miles in that time but I still change the oil and filter; fuel filter's once a year. I guess you get my drift.lol
Maybe your right doing the restore first..I'll see. I don't know how much restore to put in. I ordered a gal. I'll see what it says on the container it will be here on Friday..

Keep us informed, I am curious. Maybe the manf. could give you a heads up. Usually they have a contact number on the product.
I would say that the cost is better for the fleetguard restore at $32.43 a gallon and $35.93 for the restore plus. I also like the Idea that it is made by Cummins as well. It should not take more then a gallon of each to do the flush, Start with the restore first then flush it then do the restore plus second and then flush it. The truck has 33k on it and do you think running simple green for the third flush would be a good idea?....

I did not search hard for it but that is cheaper then the site I seen it on. As for the VC-9 I do not think MC makes it but farmed out to another source. I wounder who does make it, it may be on the MSD print out of the product......
