Who makes VC-9? Is it a Ford Product? Would an International dealer have it?
That is what I thought, International should have an equivalent because they build the engine so you would think so. As for ford they do not make any of there oils and chemicals and even there filters, They are all farmed out to other manufactures. As for the cleaner you would have to see the MSDs because they are normally required to have the manufactures on them....
Has anyone heard of a BG flush? The stealership wants $140 to hook cooling system to a machine and they say that they can physically watch the old coolant get pushed out as the machine flushes and adds new coolant. I had a BG trans flush done on trans fluid. Have not had any problems.
What do you think of this method?

No idea but since I'm still under a bumper to bumper warranty for another 1 1/2 years I will stick with the Ford procedures and chemicals.
I have seen the big flush and it most likely works well on a well maintained cooling system but from everything I have seen with this 6.0L I do not think it would do a good enough job on the flush. As for the MSDs I did some looking and they are not showing the manufacture of the VC-9 so Motorcraft is keeping a tight lip on who makes it.
Just remember that the VC-9 is an iron cleaner so that the new coolant can create a bond to the cylinder walls thus preventing cavitation and hot spots. These engines are a different animal than what we usually bring to mind.
Just received my Restore Could not find out how much to use in our cooling systems online have the info now. (Removes Silicate Gel;Oil & Grease Cleaner)
Directions:
1 Drain Cooling System
2 Add 1 Gal. Restore to every 10 gal of system capacity (So 1 gal is enough)
3 Turn on cab heater to allow max.coolant flow through the heater core
4 Run engine a normal operating temp. at least 185 degrees for 60-90 minutes
5 Drain system and refill with water
6 Run engine for 5 minutes at normal temp
7 Drain system and fill with 50/50 mix antifreeze
Looks like they left something out.. #2 How about adding some distilled water???

I think I'd do the VC9 flush first to get rid of the iron......It'll also be half flushed without any old coolant by then and the Restore can do a better job of removing the silicate. I'd also use tap water in that flush and save the distilled for the final flush after the Restore......
