So what I have done is FICM fix worked well then recently I did a three day try before you buy bully dog programing it gave me a hole new truck lastly I pulled out the EGR valve and cleaned it, it was filthy when I cleaned it I never took a vacume and sucked out the hole where the EGR valve slides into my mistake it seemed to plug a injector slightly I think. I ripped it up and down the highway and it cleared up now the try before you buy programing has came off and a few days later. It has now been 2 days since the programing kicked off the truck and now notice that when at crusing speed 100Kms or so if I slighty depress the pedel it surges/sputters if I depress the pedel more it takes off and goes no problems at all, also if I take off from a stop and power through it dose not surge/sputter. Any thoughts of what that could be I unpluged the EGR and the problem is still there!
I will check when i get to work tomorrow with some other guys, but ive never heard of the tri buy programming coming off and leaving any problems behind
Huh I am not sure what the problem was after I pulled and cleaned the EGR but that seemeed to have cleared up I think or mabey this slight sputter or surge I will call it is still from me pulling the EGR.
I may not be describing it the best, when I am driving at 80-100km/hr coasting the I give the truck a bit of gas just enuff to maintain current speed it lunges like it is get fuel no fuel then if I give the truck abit more fuel the truck down shifts and works fine till I get back to the coast speed again, then the hole process starts all over again.
A little history of the truck it is a 2004 F350 6.0 diesel King Ranch with 22000Kms I brought the truck to Ford when I bought the truck 3 weeks ago they said the FICM and the EGR valve both failed the diagnostics thats why I did the FICM repair and cleaned the EGR both with the help of the website and some other great posts! This website has been a great help to me due to the fact this is my first diesel and new nothing about them, I have spent the last week reading every chance I get, I am sure my boss loves that LOL
I also have another question about the tunners has anyone ran bullydog tunners I have read lots about the SCT tunner and how great the service is etc, I am wondering due to the fact my local parts store is having a sale with the bullydog GT tunners on for $579 down from $900 from what they say it has a screen 3 settings a few guages it says it can change the settings on the tranny etc.

Really? I've heard of people having to have their PCM reflashed because of the "footprints not left behind" "not causing any problems".
I am having the same problem with the sputtering or bucking just as the truck hits overdrive and I am light on the throttle, if I increase the throttle enough to cause a down shift it is fine. Also fine when in overdrive at speeds high enough to keep the rpm's up.
Seems to be present only when throttle is light with very low rpm's
I am still searching for my answer, I will share for sure when I find it.
Fuel pressure is good, as well as fuel filters and oil and oil filter. Air filter is clean also problem occurs with or without egr valve hooked up, I have checked all fuses and my batteries and charging system.
I think we have the same problem Swamp hopefully we can figure it out together. Best of luck.
Yea dillehay thats exzactly the issue, I am thinking of putting the try before you buy back on the truck and see if the problem goes away I will keep you informed. Just for info may help point to something
Does anyone know what the latest pcm flash from ford should be? Is there an ID number that my tech can look for when he hooks up to the truck. He has the Ford computer diagnostic tool should it automatically tell him?
Also are there any mod chips that would have custom tunes on it that may not be obvious, he wants me to be sure that there is not a piggy back pcm chip plugged into the pcm that I dont know about from the previous owner. What should I look for?
Hey dillehay so yesterday I bought and installed they bullydog gt tuner and it still bucked for a few min's then quit oh I am also towing a 12000lb trailer anyways it stoped and was working good it maybe fluke may not be I will report how it runs after I drive today I will also put my truck back to stock and see if it still does it without the tuner. I googled bucking while in od f350 and some other people said to try "HSS" hot shot something I will look that back up anyways they are saying it is a injector that is weak or a injector module again I will look back up the module name I have it all wrighten at home but I am out camping so I don't have the info here. They say this HSS product is very helpful I have no idea if it works

Yea bismic I think your right I drove arround today for a couple of hours with out the trailer and no problems I also set my tuner to stock and no issue either the only thing I have not done is completly uninstall the tuner I will try that though and see if it was a foot print do you think it will still be there wheni uninstall this tuner if so what is the way to get rid of it? Is the only option to go to the dealer and get reflashed? Is it the PCM that they reflash? For the others he has anyone tried the hot shots secret? Have they had any luck with the product? Should a guy run a little anyway to just to help clean things up?
Also bismic thank you for the files I will open them up when I get home and check them out, they are not easy to read on a iPhone
Once uninstalled, I believe if you remove the grounds from your 2 batteries and leave 'em off for 10 minutes, you SHOULD have removed any trace of the tuner. Be sure to program the PCM back to STOCK before you uninstall the BullyDog
Is it possible that the program caused the injectors to use more fuel than the fuel pump was able to provide, causing one of them to run low in pressure and malfunction? Especially if the pump is a little weak......The FICM being down previously may also have contributed to an injectors demise.....Something to consider maybe.....

Adding more power does require more fuel. so this is a possibility.

Many people have fuel pressures that are too low even when stock. A fuel pressure gauge is very important.
