I have a 2001 SD with a 5.4. I am having some issues with the 4R100. It may or may not have had a banks transcommand on it as the wires to the trans are spliced together. My problem is the truck will not move forward in drive until overdrive is turned OFF. I also have no second gear so it will wind up first till 4500 and shift into 3rd. At speed overdrive works fine when I turn it ON. This is when going around 55+ mph. Also, when sitting in drive with overdrive OFF (basically neutral) when revved gives a turbo spooling noise (probably gears moving fast).
Anyone have any ideas if this is some easy fix or should I just swap the trans?
Maybe check the splices for continuity and also fluid level. How many miles and is the fluid still good? Should be reddish and not burnt smelling with brown color.
1999 Ford V10 chassis with Southwind motorhome conversion. Was wrecked a few years ago, and repaired by someone else. front axle and components all replaced, dozens of wires spliced with insulated crimp connectors, no heat shrink.
Recently began sluggish acceleration, thought transmission was slipping. Idle would vary from 800-1200. Snap-On scanner shows vehicle speed sensor spikes going up to 45 mph while parked. Disconnected rear differential vss, no change. Disconnected cruise control, symptoms went away. replaced control unit, symptoms came back.
