Only reason I ask is Gail's wanting a laptop and I'm thinking something like that might fit her needs pretty well. The $200 part fits mine

Cool deal. I need to do one of two things at some point. Either get a new power cord and battery for ym laptop, or get a new laptop (well, new to me..).

If you are not familiar with the jargon, a "netbook" is a very scaled down notebook. They usually do not have a CD or DVD drive. The idea is to be an internet "appliance", just well enough equipped to work on the network. Some only have solid state hard drives of a few GB. Those with hard drives are usually smallish drives by todays standards. They have plenty of USB ports, so you can plug in portable optical drives if you want.

This one has a 10.1" screen, and is about 10"x7"x1" overall. Very lightweight. It has Windows 7 Starter version. It has wireless and a wired ethernet connection, a 250gb hard drive, 3 USB ports, an external monitor port, an SD card slot, a web cam, microphone, rough quality sound, and the battery lasts about 3 hours.

Sparx, notebook batteries are available very cheap if you shop around, and very expensive if you don't. I usually check eBay and a few other favorite places. If the notebook is of any decent age, it is worth getting a battery.

This particular laptop in particular is pretty old. I htink it's from around 2000 or so, so it's outdated by todays standards. Id anyhting, I'm going to get a new power plug for it, and leave it at that. I'd rather purchace a new one, and keep the one I have as my spare/backup internet surfer. It does the job, but aside ffrom pics and text websites, thats about all it can do. No web games (like at fog.com) or youtube, so it's time to get a better one. Thanks for the heads up on the site.

Got mine smogged today. Passed with flying colors, but it cost me $74.00 to get through it.

Now I can send an additional $362 to Ahhhnold for the privilege of using (what have apparently become) his streets, roads, and highways.

When do we finally get to "Just say no"?

You gonna go straight down the I-5, or take some scenic routes?

Straight down 5. Not the closest way, but the quickest.

Cruise control is your friend.

The CHP is not.

I guess rice paddies and cotton fields are scenic.
