At that price tag, I would think that someone did the plug change for you. That being the case then take it back and say "What the H...!". If you did the work then what did you spend the money on? Then knowing what all was done we can start from there.
all eight plugs broke off (THANK YOU FORD!) one fell into cylinder so there went the alum head off and to shop. Labor got me @ 910.00, parts @ 490.00. And he only charged me for 13 hours of the 22.
As for the fuel filter thats a thought, but I just had the fuel pump replaced a few months ago @ another 900.00.
all parts included in the 1400.00 were plugs, oil, anti freeze, head gasket, valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, exhaust, timing, oil sender switch and 37.00 for machine shop.
I GIVE
Wow! The fuel filter is a great place to start; symptom is in line with that and the work done to date. Also an easy DIY project for you.
If you are going to have someone do it then have them start with a full fuel pressure test including the flow testing and injector bleed down testing. That way you will know if that the fuel system is correct and the next step I would go with would be a compression test and cylinder bleed down test. Then we could look into the ignition system.
Oh crap, I forgot to ask. Do you have and check engine light codes? That could save us a lot of guessing.

Check the work order and see if they reset the KAM - KEEP ALIVE MEMORY. There might have been an air leak with the old gaskets or the new gaskets. If the work was done at a Ford dealership have them check out MODE 6 information and look at engine operating information.
