Factory Tune

I called me dealer about getting the 800 lbs upgrade and the service dept. had no idea what I was talking about. How are you guys going about this?

I also ordered the 2.5" to 2" reducer for the hitch for $45. What a rip off. The truck should come with this, especially when Ford doesn't even make an OEM 2.5" ball mount.

Tune was suppose to be released today... Some dealers know about it and some are saying they don't.

On the hitch reducer... call your salesman and complain. I did and they gave me the reducer for free.... Believe me they made enough money on the truck...

You should inform your dealer about the Ford Motor Company press release page.
UNIQUE CUSTOMER PROGRAM ALLOWS ALL PICKUP OWNERS TO GET 2011 FORD S ... - Press Release - Ford

Dealers also received an e-mail about this; it was posted somewhere around here.

No one is going about getting it just yet. As of this AM Ford had still not released the calibration and VIN list to dealers, but then again there was no "guarantee" that they would. The only thing that was ever said is they "should" have it by today. Best thing to do is just keep a eye on the forums as any news of the release is likely to hit here very quickly...

Spoke to my local dealer. They know about the tune but haven't received the upgrade in their systems. Told me to call this Monday.

Why do you need a reducer? I cant think of a reason why one is neede. Maybe it's just me. Doesn't just changing the size of the ball sufficient? What do you tow that requires a 2" reducer.

I think he is talking about the size of the mounted hitch on the truck. It has a 2.5" square hole and he has a 2" square tube that needs to fit snug.

That is the case. 2.5" seems like a bonehead move. I checked every RV place in the area and nobody has one. Not only that, from what I have heard on the forum, you have to grind the Reese 2.5" to make it fit anyways.

Wow!!!! This is new one. Every truck that I've owned has always had a 2.5" hitch. Never thought of a 2".

I think Ford just started putting the 2.5" hitch in this year. The first 2011's had a 2" so you might have the 2".

Are you sure? Go measure.

My 2009 F250 is 2" as well as every other truck I've had.

I think the confusion may be the receiver / tubing vs. the ball itself. But I could be wrong as well.

As far as the tune, my truck was delivered with the 400hp / 800lb of torque (built 8/12). I almost wish I had the previous tune for a while first so that I could feel the difference. So while some may be jealous that us with later build dates have the new tune already, I'm actually jealous I don't get to truly appreciate the difference. But either way, wow...what a truck!

My truck is going in for the normal scheduled service tomorrow so whenever I get it back, I'll verify if they uploaded the flash or not.

I would hardly think it is a bonehead move. As towing capacity increases in these truck so does the class of hitch.
If you have'nt picked up or paid for the sleeve yet cancel it. You should'nt be paying that much for one. Do some looking around away from an RV store, I picked up mine for $11 at a trailer supply store.
