Do you check your degrees through a guage? Is it really necesary to have a diff guage?

I just check by pointing an IR thermometer at it as soon as i stop. I don't think a gauge is necessary IMHO.

Temperature of the diff is not critical, those gears and bearings will take a lot more heat than you can give it. Just don't let it get low on oil.

75w140 synthetic oil by any of the known brands. They are all going to be the same (pretty much). If you are not running a LS rear end don't get oil with modifiers in it because it will just cost more and make no difference in the quality of your life. You hear all these guys recommend this brand and that brand but they are just guessing. It's like cows milk, it's all the same sh.......

I get whatever i can find at the local autoparts store. For some reason 75w140 is hard to find (and expensive)

That's because they don't make a lot of it compared to lighter stuff. Hard to find because it doesn't sell well. It's all about the money.
