I was just curious what kind of mats you guys use to absorb moisture on a concrete garage floor? I repaired of bunch of holes in my garage and it no longer ventilates as well. I have my brothers 66 Thunderbird in there and after a couple of weeks am already noticing surface rust under the car. Right now I am leaving the garage door open a little ways to let air in. I would like to invest in some kind of mat that will not cause further rust. Thanks
The problem is it's just a storage garage and there is no electricity going to it and running a cord to it would be difficult and in the way for plowing in the winter. Maybe I will just put the car up on jackstands to allow for more air movement.
There is a roof vent, the concrete is just sweating so bad it's causing rust. I have the vent and the door open and it helps but I still get the sweating. Would be nice to find a mat that will absorb water and make it go into the floor instead of up onto the car. The car is driveable so putting it up on jackstands all the time could be a pain, but if that's what it takes to preserve it then so be it.
Paint the garage floor with a waterproofing paint like that used on basement foundation walls.
Dump 40 pound of calcium chloride ice melting pellets (the 99% pellets not the 70% flakes) into a PLASTIC bucket and stick it in the corner. Change when it is all liquid.
