74 f100 blinker problem
I have a 1974 f100 4x4 ive got a problem the blinkers have stoped working, the hazzaards are still working , ive checked the flasher and it worked in th hazzard fine so i assume thats not the prob so what do i check now , is there a way to check the switch its self....
If the hazards still work okay that would indicate that the wiring, grounds and bulbs are okay.
Do both brake lights work okay? With your foot on the brakes, when you turn the turn signal on does the brake light on that side stay lit or does it go out?

try jiggling the lever while the switch is activated and see if they come on (even just barely). It sounds to me like the switch inside the column is either corroded, broken or not making contact.

I know it sounds simple, but have you checked the fuse? The flashers and blinkers work off of a different power supply. I just had the same problem and the fuse was blown. Forgive me if you have checked that already. Sometimes the simple solutions are the hardest to find.
Did you check your blinker fluid level? It uses the power steering reservoir.
Seriously when I got my truck it had sat for so long that a lot of stuff didn't work just from oxidized connectors and such. I took the dash apart and got everything working like a champ, replaced a few burned out bulbs, etc. One day I drove the truck and I noticed that the power steering started making a little bit of noise, and around the same time I noticed that my turn signal worked, but the dash indicator light didn't work. I got to where I was going and checked the power steering fluid, sure enough it was low. I filled it back up and magically the turn signal indicator started work. Proof positive that it must have been low on blinker fluid!
Actually it quit working again and I had fixed the power steering leak and the level was full. I tore into the dash expecting to find a blown bulb but it wasn't. Turns out that the little plastic thing that holds the bulb wasn't making good contact. I cleaned it's contacts with contact cleaner and some 2000 grit sand paper and put it all back together and it works fine.
Probably won't help you any, but I thought I would share anyway. To the un-trained idiot it sure would have seemed like a blinker fluid issue!
