With 5000 miles on the clock my total overall mileage since new is 10.1mpg... That last trip was the first time I have been able to break 13mpg. (Down hill with a tail wind!) That being said I am having transmission problems and I swear my speedo is off 3 to 4 mph? I am going to calculate out rpm vs mph to see if I am seeing excessive slippage?
First fill up - 85% highway 70 mph, 10% stop and go, 5% towing trailer
Mileage 341 miles
27 gal of fuel
14.54 MPG
This was hand calculated and when I fill tank when it automatically clicks off I go to the next full dollar on the pump. This way you get a standard fill each time.
I do feel that if you have a light foot helps and if you are stopping and starting very fast the numbers will drop easily.

You mileage is on track with everyone else's that has 4.30's (city/hwy). My city mileage is right around 9.5-10 (haven't reset trip B since driving off the dealer lot), hwy bumps up to about 12-14 depending on which way down the turnpike I'm going. Are your hubs locked by chance? Mine were locked when I picked it up from the dealer and I didn't notice until a few weeks or so after. Leaving them in Auto may yield a little more mpg's.
I haven't compared my speedo but saw on the previous page you mentioned you were comparing it to speed traps. Those things never seemed accurate to me (when I've compared to different gps units) but I wouldn't be surprised if your speedo was off by X %. Try a couple of different gps units to compare against.
I believe with my 4.30's, I'm right about at 1950-2000rpm in 6th at 69-70mph. I'll confirm on the trip home but that seems like the numbers I'm recalling off the top of my head. No trans slipping here but I do have the cold trans shift issues. Until the trans updates come out later this month (per pbruckne in the 6.7 forum), I'm easy on it until it fully warms up.
I am really not liking what I am seeing on here, and I have a 1200 mile round trip planned in April and will see what mine is going to do.
What are you seeing that you don't like?
All the mileages here are just numbers that indiviuals get. If you were expecting higher mileage you won't get it with a F-250 6.2L engine.
This engine is designed for pulling heavy loads and not for cruising around town.
I think everyone would like higher mileages but that will not happen with this work horse of an engine.
I just look at this way. I had a diesel that got less mpg and now I have a gasser that gets better mpg.
Diesel is 40 cents more a gallon. Lets hope the oil prices drop that will help and I don't blame my engine. Sorry.
did a 400km(dont know what that is in km, and to lazy to calculate) round trip today. about 75MPH the whole way.
Going the first 200 didnt seem to get better then 15MPG,
But for most of the 200 back it was 17MPG But for the last half hour it seemed to struggle to get over 16.. i thought it was strange.. Then only difference i could note was that i filled from 1/4 tank to a full tank.. dunno how much that really should have changed things.. but it certainly did.

After I did my fill up today and it seemed that the mpg went up also.
Only time and miles will tell. I will be very happy if I can get 16 unloaded.
I'm just waiting until 1,000 miles then I will see what mpg's I get pulling my 5th wheel. I will keep you posted when that happens.
I think I just counted 3 mileage folders on this link...here's my first reported mileage on the tank the dealership bought me. Finally back from vacation and got a chance to drive the truck. Today I drove 240 miles, roughly 80% on interstate road, wtih speeds between 60-70 consistantly. This is my first tank of gas mind you, and my average was 13.9 MPG. I had my wife and two kids with and no extra load. Winds for the first 110 miles were stiff headwinds (est 15-20 MPH). I really baby'd the accelerator with no heavy foot passing or seeing what she can do (I had my wife with). Oh, no funny shifting like others have reported on other links.
Hi Folks, Hit the 1800 mile mark on the truck (250 crew cab 3.73 6.2L). I have been keeping a gas log since day one. I drive rural roads 9 miles one way to work. Have had some highway driving and have towed my 6k boat and trailer six times. My highway and secondary roads millage ranged from 8.7 to 12.8 (the low end was using 4X4 to drive in snow to work). My millage towing boat and trailer is 8.4 to 9.07. When I average every gallon per mile since day one I get 10.353. The scary number is when you add total money spent to drive 1800 miles ( 640.32) got to love NY gas prices. The truck does pull the boat great. Now for the big question will a tunner and new air intake help me out at all? Also forgot to mention backed out of driveway two weeks ago put truck in drive started to pull away in 1st truck stopped moving like in neutral then decided to start moving. Only did it that one time. Thanks Sean
