I have a 1996 f250 with the 460, and i'm getting two engine code. The first is, bank one running lean and the 2nd is bank two running lean.
I've switch out the fuel filter, not really bad at all. New plug, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel pressure regulator. I'm getting about 35psi fuel pressure. The truck runs great and getting good mpg for a big block. But would like to clear up the check engine light. Emissions coming up real soon...Any one out there have a good fix?
Cool, I check the injectors, but what other item could cause lean running condition. Drove today no check light, 30 mile trip. Went to leave and check light comes right back on. I'm Stumped!!!, but will check the injectors.
Is your idle RPM high? If so that indicates a vacuum leak. That can be caused by leaking vacuum lines, rotted vacuum canisters or upper/lower intake gaskets. Another common cause of a lean code is a leak in the exhaust system. How old are the O2 sensors? They do have a finite life.
Correct me if I`m wrong but is the fuel pressure not low at 35psi? I would have thought it should be 40psi at idle, more at WOT.
Low fuel pressure would cause a lean condition.
My service manual indicates the fuel pressure is supposed to be between 28-45 PSI. 35 PSI at idle is a good number to me. I would expect 42+ PSI at WOT.

My idle RPM's are right at 750 and just purrs. I've checked for vacuum leaks and have found none. The O2 sensors are only a month old, they were replaced thinking they were the problem at first.
Still looking for more suggestions, please keep them coming as I would like to get this thing corrected. And I've been to two mechanics and the issue has yet to be resolved.
No still getting codes. No vacuume leaks can be detected, changed the furl pressure regulator to an adjustable- runs much better but still getting codes. I just don't know
