Just ran the truck up a hill and killed it. IPR % about 24%, ICP at KOEO is .25, ICP at hot idle .85 to .75. This only happens at about 2200 rpm. which is the sweet spot for just about every type of driving. I recorded the event on AE and you can see when it died.

did you happen to see if the glowplug light came on when it happened?

being you have an 04 discconect the ebp sensor (you will get some codes) and try it again.

being this is happening under load it is possible that the ebp is going bias and shorting v-ref shutting you down.

No lights until the truck completly shuts down, then all of the normal lights come on. I do not remember seeing the glow plug light at all though. I will try unplugging the EBP sensor, what should I look for?

there is a small tube that comes off the left (drivers side) exhaust manifold. follow that tube up and on the end of it will be a 3 wire sensor. just unplug it and drive.
the sensor will be either right nect to the t-stat or under the degas bottle.

Latest update on this. Took the truck to ford today and the answer they gave me was that there is an abnormality in the front cover not allowing pressure to build. I find this hard to believe since it worked fine then started cutting out $3K and the truck ran fine. Then 4K miles later it starts doing it again. and now it is a conver that is the problem. I just can't see it. Has any one else heard of this or are they just reaching. I am gonna take more time off of work and try to talk to the mech tomorrow oh yea they want to charge me another $1700 for this fix.

I think I'd be digging out my DEEP boots for the next time I walked into that dealership. It's NOT the front over unless something when through the LPOP and that would be REALLY obvious. No oil pressure = doesn't run period--no start no smoke nothing. Just because they replaced parts before doesn't mean the parts (or the previous install) aren't bad.

Yea I think that I will be picking my truck up today and not going back. The bad part is that I just moved here and it is the first time I have gone into this dealer. Of course it is the only one for miles. Does any one know of a good diesel shop near Waynesville, MO. If this thing is the front cover has any one changed one and how big of a pain is it.

I know one helluva good tech IN waynesville, Mo. His name is Vince and works for a Ford dealership there. He goes by Vloney on this board. Top notch diagnostician. If he is the one workiing on your truck then it must be a problem child because he is very good at what he does. If not, then he should be.

Report from ford. Low pressure oil system is not keeping res filled. possible culprit sticking pressure relief valve. There was a burr on the pressure relief valve and housing. that is why they were saying front cover or atleast the service desk guy was. looking into what it will take to replace all of that. if any one knows of a thread on this would greatly appreciate it. Also does this make sense to any one else?

I would ask what the oil pressure measured was. I would also be asking for my old parts in this case.
not one I have encountered before. maybe M-Chan has seen it.
