I did not have them do the repairs, almost $1800 for the fix. Thought that I would get better informed. As I under stand the pressure relief valve is set for 75psi. If the oil pressure was as low as what I was told and what Vince said then there is a definite problem there. I have not heard of the LPOP going out. Which is more likely the pump going out or the relief valve? I was thinking of changing out the relief valve first and see what happens a lot easier and cheaper. does any one see a problem from doing this?
Vince is a pretty smart guy from the conversations I have had with. Imo you can try the valve is cheep but im thinking not the issue on the valve but with the cover and gears eaten up.
Has any one changed out the front cover and the oil pump and is the relief valve part of the front cover cause I can't find just the valve. Does any one know where I can get parts other that the dealership?

You might ask about upgrading to the 05 and up cover with the bigger water pump and change the water pump too while you're there. You might be able to get the parts at a Navistar/IH dealer depending oh the parts guy there. Some things are higher at Navistar some things are cheaper. $1800 isn't that bad for hanging out the front cover. There is a lot involved.
