Looks like the thread was necro'd but for anyone reading....the Prodigy is good or great depending upon who you ask.
More importantly, RUN from the lesser Tekonsha controller: the Voyager. It's complete junk but it seems to hang behind every NAPA counter so it's readily available and thus people buy it not knowing any better
This is a 10 year old thread but here's my $.02 worth for the next guy. For a number of years now, I've used a Tekonsha Prodigy 2 controller with my 3,500 lbs. rated 7x14 enclosed cargo trailer with single axle electric brakes. I did a lot of research and decided, for my needs, to buy it used at a fraction of the price of the Prodigy 3 which was just being introduced back then. I did use screws to attach the mounting bracket at the bottom plane of my dash front. It is very secure and you'd never see the screw holes unless you are lying on the floor looking up.
Follow the instructions and it's easy to set-up, works great and once you get it braking the way you like, you really don't have to fiddle with it unless your load weight changes dramatically and you want to fine-tune the braking action. There is, of course, the extra braking button for those situations requiring more trailer braking like emergency braking or braking down steep hills. I found setting it up on a gravel road lets you dial in the sensitivity a bit easier because if you over "sensitize it", your wheels will lock and slide on the gravel making it easy to detect and then adjust. Today, I'd probably look to pick up a used Prodigy 3. Like I said ... just my $.02 worth.
