Has anyone found a solvent to remove the yellow adhesive left behind after ripping out the padded dash that doesn't also remove paint?
There's a product made by Kent Industries called Acrysol. It (or similar products) can be found at Automotive Paint stores where body shops buy their supplies.
This solvent will remove adhesive, bumper stickers and etc and will not harm painted surfaces.
if that old glue is petroleum based acetone will not touch it.
you could try lacquer thinner, BUT! just be careful.... it will dull the finish if you rub too hard.
i doubt it will remove the paint. I clean my work trailer all the time with lacquer and it does not hurt the paint.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah lacquer thinner was my next choice. I really dont care about the paint as I will be repainting the whole truck inside and out in the next year or so....
