Let me start by saying thanks for the help. I want to explain my horrible week, maybe the postmaster/moderator can make a sticky or tech page out of it,or maybe I didn't look hard enough for the page.
I did a tune-up and installed a flowmaster-plugs,springs and boots. After tune-up I kept hearing a misfire. I e the went crazy from taking temp of each cylinder at the exhaust manifold with an infared heat gun to buying coil packs, posting thread after thread. Finally I grabbed a 7mm socket and ratchet and got on the highway and started at cylinder 1 with a new coil pack and stopped every exit to switch to the next cylinder. NOTHING. I wanted to drive the F***KING truck off a bridge. I refused to take it to the dealer so they can hook there stupid computer up to tell me whats wrong with my engine and charge me 130.00. Finally I got to thinking it was the plugs and posted a thread on here and it was immediatly followed by "thats your problem". I had no problems with bosch before this I only boguht them because they were a little cheaper. But i can tell you this today I brought them back and got motorcraft and what A difference my truck runs perfect. BOSCH plugs do not work with the v10 engine, anyone on the fence about the argument of they work or they don't will be sorry. I always thought a plug was a plug. boy was I wrong. those plugs cost me 100.00 in coil packs and countless hours of running around in circles.
I always use Motocraft plugs, wires, coils, etc, etc. Is there any reason not to? Do you save anything going with these types of aftermarket items? I've never had an issue with Motorcraft stuff...
im not really sure why the aftermarket plugs dont work in the mod motors, .
I know several guys with 5.4s in F150s who frequent other boards, and they say every time someone puts in non-Motocraft plugs the things go bat-shi# insane for some reason. No idea why, but it's a problem for the entire lineup, spanning models and years.
Anytime I have a vehicle come in with ANY kind of drivability concern, first thing I do is check the plugs. If it has BOSCH platinum's, I wont go any further diagnosing until it has the correct plug in it. I have been burned bad with these junk bosch plugs.
That's weird because I put in the Bosch Plats and ran them for 40K more miles until I sold my V10, no probs. I also only had to replace one COP in the 140K I had on it and it was an aftermarket from Advance. It didn't show up that they even carried them for the V10, so he looked up the 5.4L, pulled it out of the box and it had the identical Ford #'s on it. Same thing with the power steering pump but that's another subject.
It doesn't make sense to me that a brand name plug would cause a lot of problems in a certain motor. I could see it if it was Super Fire plugs made in China or something. I wonder what Bosch would say about it. I am thinking you had something else going on there.

I don't. I see this same thing on probably a weekly basis come through the shop.
You do understand that Motorcraft doesn't actually make the items they sell?
Many OEM supplier companies make the items for Motorcraft.
I'm surprised the Bosch plugs are a problem as they're are one of the most premiere brands in the world. They seem adequate for BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.
