You do understand that Motorcraft doesn't actually make the items they sell?
Many OEM supplier companies make the items for Motorcraft.
I'm surprised the Bosch plugs are a problem as they're are one of the most premiere brands in the world. They seem adequate for BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.

I know they don't. A little of my background. I have a Mechanical Engineering degree that I haven't used in the past ten years (retired).
When an engineer designs something. it's with-in a plus or minus tolerance. Also, they tend to design a part to work with a specific designed part. Let's take the Motorcraft fuel filters as an example. International either designed their 6.0 liter's fuel filter housing to fit and work with the fuel filter that both Ford and International uses in the filter housing, or the fuel filter was deigned around the parameter of the housing. Notice the Fram filters don't exactly fit and work right in that housing without changing the filter cap to work with the Fram filter? It's highly possible the Ford ignition's electronics are designed to work with-in a certain parameter, and the Bosch plugs aren't with-in those parameters. It's not saying Bosch plugs are bad! It's only saying Bosch plugs aren't with-in the design parameters.

Sorry, I find that highly unlikely unless your friend's truck was running in Top Fuel.
