i'm sandblasting my rear frame. removed bed, fuel tanks, exhaust, shocks, etc.
on crossmembers and fuel tank straps, there is a padded material from the factory that is glued on in order to prevent metal to metal contact against the fuel tanks. i had to remove it in order to properly sandblast everything.
what have others used for this purpose when replacing this stuff?
I used weather stripping from the hardware store. It was a closed cell foam almost rubber like product. I think it was designed for use when adding a cap on the truck bed. It had an adhesive on one side. Worked pretty good when I replaced the rear tank last fall on '92 F350.
2nd on the camper seal foam tape..
Only been 3 years but it seems to be holding up ok.
