While I have the bed of my 96 250, I might as well go & change out the exhaust from the cat back. I want to stay stone stock, so does anyone know if I can still get this pipe (from the muffler back) from Ford? I'm looking for the hangers, too. I checked with my dealer, and he said they were long gone, but to try other dealers. Any hope for this? Thanks!
Roger
Yes, the dual pipes. I checked Maremont and they seem to have a lot of stuff! Thanks for that info, I've never heard of them before, but I'll think they'll do the trick! I'll let you all know how I make out....again~thanks!
Roger
Even if you could still get them from Ford, it would likely be so expensive it wouldn't even be worth it. Just have one made at an exhaust shop.
x2 a muffler shop can replicate it easily........and cheaply.
Dynomax makes a OEM replacement muffler that fits exactly the same as stock, and sounds MUCH better without being obnoxious.
Maremont is one of the exhaust industry leaders. They have quite a bit of stuff! As others have indicated an exhaust shop can replicate the pipes, but if you are like me I prefer to do my own work as much as possible.
My local exhaust shops seem to think their time and materials are measured against the gold standard. My last trip to the exhaust shop was over $450 for a Dynomax dual in-dual out muffler and twin tailpipes on my last '93 Lightning. I was shocked!
In contrast the mandrel bent Dynomax aluminized 3" tailpipe I put on my current '92 F350 was about $40 delivered to my door last summer. The Magnaflow 3" stainless steel muffler was $85.

How easy was it to remove the old muffler from the head pipe/cat?? And how easy was it to install the new to the head pipe/cat??
I always wondered why Ford didnt install the dual tail pipes on the 5.0 trucks--and not just the 5.8/7.5 equipped trucks??
The rest of the exhaust was a total loss so it was easy to use my sawzall to cut everything off. I replaced everything including the exhaust manifolds. Bassani y-pipe, Magnaflow 59929 spun series converter, the Magnaflow muffler I mentioned earlier and Dynomax/Walker tail pipe. I used some Dynomax stainless band clamps to attach everything.
If you were trying to reuse the existing y-pipe/converter you could use a reducer from the factory 2.25/2.5" to 3" then continue on with the 3" pieces or keep it factory sized. The band clamps work really well for rework or complete replacement. They are removable, making it easy to work on later on down the road. The Dynomax part number for the 3" band clamps is 33272. They come in other sizes too.
