Preference for oil cooler replace

I have just been told by the local ford dealer that the little wrench light that started this last weekend is giving me a P012F, oil cooler code on my 05 f250. I have 75K in mileage. I was informed the cooler must be replaced.

Is it better to replace with the 3C3Z-6A642-CA kit or the 3C3Z-6A642-AA complete assembly?

I recently did the VC-9 flush and installed a coolant filter and had the latest flash done (VXCF9) and cleaned the egr valve (which was dry and not that clogged up). So my next question is do I replace the EGR cooler or delete it?

I went out of warranty in May so this is all on my dime. What else should be done to at the same time? Most of my miles is pulling my horse trailer and I am getting ready to head to Nebraska in 3 weeks so I need to get the repairs done soon. The local dealer is very expensive. They want $1800 to just do the cooler and another $1000 to do both egr and oil cooler. A local diesel shop is going to help me do this repair work over a 2 to 3 day period for a whole bunch less. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks
crl

There really is no advantage to using the complete assembly. Ford only uses the kit when they do the job. I deleted my egr cooler but I do not know if I would do it again. There is a lot of help with info out there. The tech folder at the top of this forum will give you tons of information.

The kit is quite cheaper. And unless your housing is damaged, no reason to install the new full assembly.
Seeing as its on your own nickel(or dime) I would have to say the kit.

Delete the cooler if your in a region of the US that will permit you to do so. If your in Cali or such put a bulletproof EGR cooler.
While your in there deal with the EGR cooler now with which ever way you decide to go.

Can you tell me why you might not do the EGR cooler delete again.
