I would try to find a 351W instead of the Cleveland. The C has huge ports and valves that will be great for high revs, but not so good for low end torque. The C also has very thin cylinder walls that usually won't allow more than 0.030 overbore. If the engine you're looking at has already been rebuilt I would pass on it. There also are very many people still building the C, so parts are pricey. Regardless of which one you use you will have a hard time beating a 5.0 with a truck, the ricers shouldn't be a big deal with a decent running 300.
[B]After reading some posts, a few articles online, and talking it over with my dad, ive decided to stay w/my 300. I'm not interested in top mph...im interested in keeping my truck functional...but able to beat some ricers at the 1/8 track. Is this a decision? What all can i do to help with the process of beafing up my 300 to a rice killer?
This weekend, my dad and i intend to do a tune up on my truck. What do you suggest for torque and hp gains as far my tune up...or preperation for the 1/8?
Where can i find :
+mass air flow sensor
+chip
+headers
........what else can i do....w/out being too extreme ?
I'm looking to spend around $800?

There's a vehicle ID sticker on the door jamb that has the build codes on it. There's an "axle" code at the bottom of that sticker. Post it and someone will tell you what your ratio is.
bigblock if it wouldnt be to much trouble and if ur feeling generous, could u post what parts u used, maybe where u got em from and maybe even all the custom pieces (like lenght, size, where to bend, etc) if not then its kool...i understand u might wanna keep it secret or something.
That is one awesome setup. I have a few engine combinations I wanted to try before the turbo, but the turbo might have just gone to the front of the list. Are going to take your truck to the track? I would love to see what it will turn. Probably deep in the 14's.
If you continue to have transmission problems there is a guy named Gregg Evans that builds transmissions for the Lightning guys. His stuff is bulletproof, rated to 800-900ft-lbs of input torque. The name of his company is Factory Tech.
the planetary set is the last part i can change unless
i machine the case. i used a converter from a expedition
has a higher stall 2200 rpm.[i have a part #]
i go to the track in april, need better tires.
It's a truck dude. stop trying so hard for those racers and drive it like a truck cause that's all it will ever be, never a racer. Save the cash and get a racer and tow it. looks cool if you truck it in assuming your legal racing and not one of these dimwit street racers. Be Cool not a fool.
