I just learned that the oil cooler kit's are on national back order from Ford and aren't expected in until around the first week in september, so if you're planning that repair make sure you have parts IN HAND before you start.

Good info. Could save someone a long downtime. Thanks.

Are you spilling beans, or just hoping? Insider knowledge?
My guess is that the effect of the new flash, and general awareness among techs and owners, has increased demand above normal.
What does the new flash do with regards to the oil cooler?
The latest flash, about a year old now, sets a DTC if the oil cooler efficiency is below specification. The specification is that oil temp should not exceed 15°F above coolant temp.
In addition, lots of us are watching oil temps like hawks now, where a year ago we were blissfully ignorant.

Oh I see now, I guess I should go get it... My truck hasnt been in the shop for over a year. I guess with no warranty I will have to pay for this?
Does the whole oil/EGR cooler issues lead to head gasket failure?

Thanks Ford! So the new flash does something it should have done back in 2004! Pretty funny but not surprising! Imagine the warranty claims had Ford been implementing that flash back in the beginning of the 6.0's! Just sounds a little fishy to me! A good way to drum up a ton of business though, no doubt!
