Traction control

I was traveling @ 50 MPH today on a mostly flat 4 lane paved hwy and noticed the traction control light enable.
The road was dry and I didn't slip when I turned onto the highway a few miles previously. I was actually taking it easy turning onto the road.

If I press the traction control button, the same picture appears but also shows OFF; as I would expect.

I was also not in 4x4 (which disables TC anyways).

The light turned off when I slowed to about 20-25 MPH.

I'm not worried about it since it turned off but wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this or might know why it engaged (system test?).

The light flashes when my wheels spin. No idea why it would stay solid unless it was off.

My light comes on when the rear wheels start to spin as well. But it always goes off on its own.

I guess i should pay more attention to the light. My seating position blocks it out with the steering wheel. Im one of those people that will drift my truck when i get bored tho. So I turn it off in the dry on occassion. Its always nice to be able to know you got enuf power behind you to do it if you want

lol. It's fun and it definitely has enough power. Trouble is, with the tires at $400 each it's about $50 every time I go sideways! Can't wait for the snow, a lot cheaper drifting.

I run with my TC off most of the time. Never know when I might need some wheel spin.

I have the Ford traction control in our 07 mini van. The light comes on sometimes in dry weather. I was told by the service dept. that the microprocessor occasionally runs a self test as you are driving and the light will come on during that time. I have never seen it come on in my new F-250 though.

Interesting. I am glad to know the answer, thanks Nipperdog.

I can say that the traction control works, I hammered it while turning on a wet intersection to test it out, rear end slid maybe a foot before the system took over. It's actually pretty cool.

Major improvement from the 06 mustang gt premium i had. Spun the tires and when it kicked in it slung the car sideways and up into somebodys front yard. Needless to say the 07's had a totaly diffrent traction control program.

Thanks, the system check was my guess too.
Today (after this incident) was the first time I have turned off traction control while driving and the second time the button was pushed.
The first time was at home after I picked it up from the dealer because I push all the buttons I can find...lol!

I can't wait for the link to the drifting video!
