Aux.tank Filler hose replacement - help!

My aux.tank hoses look as though they are ready to crumble, so i guess its time to replace them. And since my sender unit does't work i guess i'll change that as well. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me that i wouldn't have to drop the tank, but i quess thats wishfull thinking. Thanks for your help.

What hoses are you refering to? The filler hose and the vent hose?

Does your truck have the optional 25 gallon auxillary fuel tank that fits on the inner side of the drivers side frame rail, has an exposed fuel cap, or is it something else?

The sending unit for the 1967/72 factory auxillary tank is obsolete, no one reproduces it. A few NOS sending units can be found. The float is the usual cause why sending units do not work, because...

The float is made from two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.

The float (COAZ9202B) is still available from Ford and fits ALL 1957/79 Passenger Cars/Trucks/Bronco's & Econolines.

The sending unit's gasket (COAF9276A) is also available from Ford, fits the same applications as above...except senders used with the In-Cab fuel tanks.

NumberDummy,
I am referring to both the filler and vent hose. The tank is the tank between the rails under the bed with the filler hose coming out above the bump, i assume this is the Aux. tank. ( I have a '69 f250). Thanks Al

Bad news is the easiest way to replace the hoses is to remove the bed. They travel over the frame.

The tank sending unit and wiring can be accessed by removal of the skid plate. and worked on from above.

If I remember correctly when I changed mine I didn't remove the tank. It was many years ago; probably 20. My gage hasn't worked in that long either.

I cut my hose in half to get the bed off for its trip to the paint shop. I figured I would just buy a new one.....bad idea. That hose was formed to fit between the bed and frame. I tried fitting a piece of regular fuel hose but it kept collapsing.
That was 11 years ago, if you find a fix please let me know.
Thanks.
