Optional 25 gallon auxillary fuel tank: 1967/72 F100/350 except 1970/72 F100's with Evaporative Emission. The tank used on these trucks has a 21.5 gallon capacity.
1967/69 Stylesides: Fuel filler tube/fuel cap pokes thru the quarter panel (bedside) above the scallop (bumpside) line, in front of the left rear wheel.
1970/72 Stylesides: Fuel filler tube/fuel cap pokes thru the quarter panel below the scallop line, in front of the left rear wheel.
Because of the different locations of these two fuel filler tubes, the 1967/69 auxillary tank is not the same as the 1970/72 auxillary tank.
1967/72 all: Inside the bed, butted up to the bedside, is a shield that protects fuel filler tube from possible cargo damage.
Picture caption "Except Models 84 & 85." These are Open Drive-Away's: Chassis & Cowl (84) and Cowl & Windshield (85).
Neither has a cab or an in-cab fuel tank, neither came with a seat. Just a dash board, floor pan and behind it, bare frame rails.
Good Humor ice cream trucks could be either, as ice cream trucks are the most common Open Drive-Away's.
Left: Auxillary fuel tank and attaching parts, manually operated fuel tank selector valve and the selector switch. Valve switches the tanks, switch only changes dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.
Right: 1967/72 Styleside bed. 27937 is the basic Ford part number for the shield.

1970/72 F100's and 1973/79 F100/350's with Evap/Em use NON vented 4 pronged fuel caps, 2 prongs above, 2 prongs below 180 degrees apart.
The Evap/Em fuel filler tubes are also different, as they are designed for the 4 pronged caps and have a restrictor in them.
Back then there were two different sizes of filling station nozzles. The restrictor would not allow the larger in diameter leaded nozzle to fit in. The lead in the fuel causes the charcoal in the canister to MELT.
The 1970/72 25 gallon auxillary tank uses the same fuel tank sending unit (D7TZ-9275-B replaced DOTZ-9275-D) as 1973/79 F100/350 2WD Regular Cab mid-ship auxillary tank.
But the tanks themselves are not the same...regardless of what some repro parts sellers may claim.
Repro parts sellers do not care or take into account that CA smog tests all 1976 and later vehicles...as they're only in the biz 'for the coin.'
ALL the emissions related parts have to be present and in good working order. There's no waiver if the parts are obsolete. If the vehicle cannot pass smog, it cannot be registered. It's fix it...or park it!

Rather than LMC or whomever, you would be better off finding a donor Bump and get the whole assembly and hardware. Notice the brackets the tank straps bolt to in Bill's top picture. #9046 and #9146. I am assuming a new tank from a vendor would be tank only. No straps, strap brackets, skid plate, etc.

you are right Jeff, my truck is down now due to gas tanks leak, I'm going to drop the 17 gal P-series tank and see if the brackets match Bill's picture, if not i will have to find brackets, I'm not trusting of a used tank anymore since my current tank now has a problem, the welds for the internal baffled are leaking, the baffles are plug welded in place, I plan to order a new tank and eithe ruse the brackets in my truck or find the correct ones, since I have a p-series tank I may not have the same brackets but then again I may, I have to drop the tank again and inspect, I had this tank checked a year ago and now it's leaking, just not willing to sink any more money in a 17 gal tank

It's not a P Series only fuel tank, I've told you this before.
The last one of these tanks available NOS was bought by FTE member 65GH for his 1965 F250 Open Drive-Away Chassis & Cowl Good Humor ice cream truck.
I looked the puppy up in the parts catalog, found it at Crossett Ford in Arkansas.
C5TZ-9002-A (replaced DOTZ-9002-F) .. Fuel Tank-17 Gallon Capacity / Obsolete
Applications: 1965/69 P100/500 & 1970/77 P350/500 (P Series Parcel Delivery) // 1973/76 F250/350 Crew Cabs* // 1965/71 F100/350 Open Drive-Away: Chassis & Cowl & Cowl & Windshield.
The tank is the same for all of the above .. but the filler necks and mounting parts will not be the same for all these vehicles, and will not be the same for 1967/72 F100/350 auxillary tanks either.
You found this ID engineering number on your tank: DOTA-9002-D .. gave it to me. I crossed it over to this Ford part number: DOTZ-9002-F replaced by C5TZ-9002-A
* There are no specific to Crew Cab only parts listed in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog, as all the factory assembled crews were converted Regular Cabs and all were Domestic Special Orders.
