Well here it goes. Here is my 1976 F100 2wd short box. It currently has a 300 in it mated to a C4. I have a 1972 351W I am going to rebuild and drop in it I would also like to add power steering and breaks. It is a pretty solid truck from Montana. I have someone working on the bodywork and paint for me and I am going to try tackling the engine and tranny. I have been thinking about putting an AOD in it instead of the C4... Any thoughts on this?
while the AOD gets you overdrive, the issue is that it's a TV cable and it a booger to get adjusted right. You'd be better off getting a donor 351W that is efi along with the 4r70w trans from a 1996 F150 or Bronco. MUCH stronger trans, more reliable and computer for the motor and trans are already set up, so it's super easy to install. Then you have the best of both worlds, EFI & OD. Cool truck by the way. I have a 1976 I just bought that has a 79 front clip that I eventually want to do that swap with.
Thanks for the info Sparky. I am probably going to stick with the C4 for budgetary reasons but I will keep this in mind...
