something hot

After driving for 1 hour stopped a light and could it smelled like something was burning (not brakes) . It seemed to be coming from drivers side . I checked all over and could not find a thing wrong ???? any ideas (300 km)

Maybe they spilled some oil or something on the motor when prepping for delivery.

If it smelled like the paint burning on a new bbq grill, then it could be the DPF cooking the soot.

When the soot filter is cooking and you stop the truck and listen to the truck, you will here a lot of popping type noises as the metal is expanding and contracting. It gets extremely hot under there.

I think I can actually smell the soot burning off. Kind of like a cigar or pipe. I can tell when the exhaust filter is cleaning and I am driving about 30 - mpg with the rear sliding window and the driver's window open. That airflow pulls a little bit of the exhaust into the compartment. Am I crazy? Anyone else been able to tag the dpf burn smell?
