After driving for 1 hour stopped a light and could it smelled like something was burning (not brakes) . It seemed to be coming from drivers side . I checked all over and could not find a thing wrong ???? any ideas (300 km)
When the soot filter is cooking and you stop the truck and listen to the truck, you will here a lot of popping type noises as the metal is expanding and contracting. It gets extremely hot under there.
I think I can actually smell the soot burning off. Kind of like a cigar or pipe. I can tell when the exhaust filter is cleaning and I am driving about 30 - mpg with the rear sliding window and the driver's window open. That airflow pulls a little bit of the exhaust into the compartment. Am I crazy? Anyone else been able to tag the dpf burn smell?
