I have a may 2003 6.0l f350 4x4 ,autoenginuity scanner, recently bought the truck starts fine and idles well then when engine get warm it starts to smoke unburnt fuel (white) volume of fuel desired on scanner goes from about 14 mm~3 to 27mm~3 and starts to run rough if you depress the acellerator the motor smooths out and the fuel desired goes down. No coolant smell. egr cooler removed ,oil cooler replaced, exhaust back pressure sensor and tube cleaned .ebp sensor koeo 14.2, eo 17 but jumped to 54.0 when map was at 17, bp 31.20 I could use some help The AE is new to me Also found a superchip tuner under the back seat
more info I started the truck again cold and let it idle to operating temperture all seems fine about 15min I ut it in gear with not much change. then back in park small depression on the accellerator and the engine goes in quiet mode(no dieseling sound) timing drops to -11.97 fuel input desired more then double to 24 mm~3 accompanyed by eyeburning white smoke lots of it no coolant smell
nither of the 2 codes you listed are correct, please revisit that information and repost.
if you were over fuel you would have black smoke.
white smoke is from under fuel or coolant.
is the egr cooler removed or is it just blocked off.
egr cooler is removed as for the codes I will connect the AE back up seems I didnt save the codes I have a 93 7.3 and when it would freeze up white smoke would pour out I dont know why I was thinking overfueling as no black smoke only white. This is my first dealing with a newer diesel, thanks for responding
my typing is terrible b3400 and 0605 I cant seem to get these codes again though, Im going to get new filters tommorow, seller informed me all filters were changed but I found him to be less then truthfull with this truck, also have a p0603 code but I think that is from battery removal?
b3400 is a body code and should be unrelated.
the p0603 is a kam code ingnore it.
I assume you mean p0605. this code bothers me a little bit.
you may want to try and plug in the superchip and see if you can return the truck to stock, then retest it.
the p0605 is a pcm rom corruption code. this is not a good code to have. It can also be the source of your concerns.
also you should check both batteries with the ground cables removed and make sure they are good. from there make sure the alternator is working correctly.
does the truck still have a a factory exhaust with the cat? ebp at 50+psi is also a concern. if the ebp vref and signal return are shorting it will also casue lots of issues
and can cause the p0340 (i think thats what you ment by p3400) becasue it will cause a crank no start.
so unplug the ebp and retest as well. the truck will run with it disconnected but it will set a dtc (p0470 or is it a p0472... i think) and possibly a light
cat is still on ebp at 50 psi happened once like a spike it has been sitting around 17psi, I tested the batteries all good I will check alternator and will retest with ebp removed and I will try to educate myself on the superchip see what I can learn there
ya I dont know much about them either. You should be able to plug it in and use the up/down arrows and look for something that says return to stock... but thats all guess work. Most of them work in that fashion.
keep me posted. and if any of it fixes it then make sure to post that to.
thank you
unplugged ebp with help from my wife codes p0470 and p0472 engine ran stumbled and ssmoked would even out with slight accellerator application, simalar to before. plugged in the superchip options were economy, tow or preformance. no stock option will look into that.
