This not really a truck issue.. but i've managed to kill two GPS's. Now having said that,, i never turn it off, and i'm sure that doesnt help. But my "two" died since I replaced the batteries in the truck., and these batteries are pretty strong. I was wondering if the sudden surge of juice hitting the GPS is causing any harm. The GPS screen just freezes, and not even unpluged it changes anything. Any of you electronic guys, please jump in,, but either way I guess i'll buy another one today.. thanks..
my nuvi 660 freezes up once in a great while but i just push the power button and it restarts. if it does lock up tight there is a reset button on the back of mine under wher the antenna flips up
I assume you are using the power adapter that came with the GPS? Mini-USB power connectors are becoming more and more popular for small electronics. However mini-USB power is 5.0 volts. I've heard of people cutting off the cigarette lighter part (which contains the voltage reduction circuitry) and hooking the cord directly into vehicle power and frying their electronics.
thanks guys, just got back from walmart,, with my "3rd" one.. and yes I"m using the " plug in thing" that comes with it. I"m gonna check on the "reset" button,, didnt know it had one,, maybe mine doesnt,, but thanks again.. Herb
its a ... Garmin nuvi. 1350
