I would start with the headlight switch, thats been an issue with ford since the 60's. The high/low/wiper/TS switch if needed can be replaced with out removing the steering wheel. I had to do it 3 times in one day.

If you remove the front dash panel, you should have fairly easy access to the headlight switch. I would just start with the switch for now as it sounds like it is overheating. Inspect the plug that connects to the headlight switch, the wire for the marker lights likes to melt.

The **** has a little spring-latch-thing on its back side, can't really see it easy unless you use a dental mirror. To release it you need to press on it with something like a curved pick, and if you look at the **** on its back edge there is a little notch - this is where you push (well, pull towards you) with the curved dental pick, right behind that notch is the spring-latch-thing.

A small screwdriver, using the edge of the blade in the slot will work to release the clip too. I don't even look anymore, I just hold the screwdriver there, and turn the **** til it clicks, and give the screwdriver (and the ****) a light pull.

The explained method is for the wiper **** ...

For the headlight switch there is a release button on the switch, reach up under the dash touch the end of the switch and follow the side opposite the connector towards the dash, you will feel a button (about 3/16" in diameter and about 3/8" tall) with a little spring, push that button and it releases the headlight **** and shaft.

If you pry out the 2 trim strips on either side, it will reveal a couple screws. After that, you can gently pry the panel off.

Actually, It's my fopah I believe
The 87 and up the clip is on the **** as first described isn't it ...

I participate in two forums, the IDI forum and 80-86 forum... If it's a truck (not motor) question, I assume I'm in the 80-86 forum!
