if you have even a basic mechanical knowledge i'd do it yourself. way cheaper that way. not sure as far as what brand to get or what size.

Since you're pricing the mod, you'll also need a flasher to reprogram the GR and TS. You can either get a tuner (I recommend you contact Mike Butler at 5Star Tuning) or Hypertech makes a device that allows you to correct the GR and TS, but doesn't allow you to adjust performance.

I also assume you understand that your dealer will probably deny any claims on your drivetrain warranty. If the warranty is important to you, you may to check with the dealer.

With the correct gear ratio to compensate for the bigger tires, you may not need to calibrate for the bigger tires. If you do, the dealer can do it for you.

And I would bet that if you pay the dealer to do it with factory Ford parts, it won't affect your warranty.

Even if you pay someone else to do it, only the parts changed or directly effected by the change would be out of warranty.

If you have a good company do the work, they will warrant the work and the parts. I had mine done by 4wheelparts. Never had a problem.

msg - you are correct, but you'd have to calculate the effective GR with the new gears and larger tires (accounting for the squish).

As far as the dealer re-programming the PCM - maybe. The Ford software is somewhat limited in the options for TS (not sure if this is true for the GR too).

Lastly, I understand what the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act says, but how it's implemented/enforced depends on the dealer (and their warranty repair record with Ford). It wouldn't be much of a stretch for the 'wrong' dealer to reject a transmission claim based on the gears and tires. It's then up to the owner to prove the modifications didn't cause the failure.

I believe it is actually the responsibility of the dealer to prove the modification did cause the issue.

If you look around there are many Ford Dealerships that actually install lift kits, posi kit upgrades, gear ratio changes, and a whole bucket full of performance stuff. We have several in Arizona that specialize in Ford Performance upgrades. SVT certified I guess they are called.

And yes the technician at a Ford dealership, with a mere key stroke and adjust for tire size and gear ratio changes. Although it has to be within the allowable perimeters.

Just a quick google search and you can see what this Ford Dealer will do. If you have a Dealer that will not work with you, get another dealer.
